The new municipal offices are located in a historic building overlooking Piazza del Campo. Before the restoration process, the building was showing a deep level of fragmentation due to changes occurred over the past centuries. The precise request of the City Council was to bring the building back to the original typology of the “palazzo”, in order to create an institutional building where a whole set of new services open to the public could be concentrated in one place. In addition to the traditional office spaces, a whole series of spaces specifically designed for different uses have been added. The goal was to make these spaces able to host different types of activities that are essential for a democratic relationship between the institutions and the public.
